Tied, a Solo Exhibition of Yoonshin Park

The opening reception of "Tide" by Yoonshin Park, a Chicago based multimedia artist will be on Friday, 2/15/2019 at 7pm.
The B&L Gallery is located on the Lower Level, Suite #008 at the Zhou B art Center. Off street parking is available and the building is accessible by a ramp at the back of the Center.

The exhibit, which will be on display through March 8th, will include the artist's new addition of abstract waterscape series "Tied."

"Tied," the title of the exhibition is a phonetic pun on the tide of the rising horizon and the paper pages bound by thread.

As the water rises and falls, pages of our daily experience add and subtract to and from our memory.

Our daily life permeates our memory just as the ink is absorbed into each page, creating new shapes and patterns onto what was once a clean slate of a blank page.

My next exhibition, INCREMENT opens on Friday, 11/30 at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art.
The opening reception is from 6-9pm.

***Featuring Barbara Cooper, Shona Macdonald, Yoonshin Park
    Curated by Adrienne Kochman

Increment, at its simplest level, suggests moving forward in small, compartmentalized steps. Progress may appear slow, deliberate, conscientious, or gradual, but at its foundation lays the notion of measured change. This exhibit focuses on the work of three artists intent on drawing our attention to areas often overlooked or minimized in a world where reaching the end product directly prevails. Cooper explores the tension between nature and industry as a site of reconciliation; Macdonald ponders dislocation and "our transient and fragile hold on earth" through landscapes; and Park embraces the condition of not belonging as an opportunity for growth. All share an interest in the ensuing transformation.
